Development Control Travel Plans
A Travel Plan serves to maximise peoples’ opportunities to walk and cycle to/from a given site, such as a residential development or an office building. For some people, cycling is a no-brainer and they will cycle rain or shine. For others, walking or cycling is simply not feasible and they must drive or take the train all the way to work. But for a substantial portion of commuters, a well-aimed nudge can tilt them into changing how they travel to work. This could be as simple as a towel service at work to make the post-cycle shower that much more convenient. It might involve cycle confidence training and even the trial use of a loan bicycle.
MP Smarter Travel staff have a long history of finding out why people travel the way they do, understanding what measures can tip the balance, and implementing the right measures to maximise walking and cycling at a given site.
